KCW: My Prepster Lion.

And now its time to show off my other Wild Thing!

Here is Viktor in his Prepster Pullover from Blank Slate Patterns.

I might be an overly positive person, but this is yet another great pattern I sew up.

I’m always a little nervous sewing collars to shirts, but this one came together

beautifully in first try!

I made it in size 6 and it fits just the way I wanted it to.

I’m pretty proud off how nicely I managed to line up the pocket!

Awww that cute face!

The fabric is Monarch Aqua from Cotton + Steel, I bought it from Miss Matatabi.

I hope you are ready for some picture overload of my handsome young guy!

The pants are old jeans from H&M which were too short and I just cut

off the legs and made them into shorts.

I zigzagged the edged so they wouldn’t fray too much. 

That’s it folks!

KCW: Pink Stallions!

I really wanted to sew along with kids clothes week this time 

cause I had the perfect fabrics for the theme – Wild Things.

But I had to do my sewing last week because my in-laws will be visiting this week.

I managed to finish what I had planned and today I’ll share Anitas wild thing outfit.

If you read my last post you might remember that I said my next post would also 

feature patterns from Jennuine Design.

Tada!

Here you have the Haven Acres Blouse and the Dressage Leggings.

Pink stallions are pretty wild, right?!

And riding pants too?!

I made both a size 5.  The top fits perfect I think, but the leggings are a bit to big.

But I don’t mind cause I’m hoping for a really warm summer and if I get my wish they

wont be worn much until fall.  So fingers crossed!

I didn’t use the elastic for the sleeves because my local fabric store didn’t have

the right width on stock, but I think they look nice with out it as well.

I wanted to hold on to the length of the blouse so I hemmed it with bias tape.

For the blouse I used Mustang in pink from cotton + steel.  I bought mine from

The Laughing House.  It doesn’t look like she has this color in stock anymore,

but she has lots of nice fabrics and great customer service.

For the leggings I used fabric from my local fabric stores, the pink is from

Kreaktive (they are not online) and the denim color is from stoff og stil.

The patterns are both easy to follow and well written.

The leggings are not a fast sew, at least not for me.

But they are totally worth the time!

Now if only Anita could go riding with auntie Ásta in her new riding clothes!

The Verona Dress.

I really wasn’t going to buy any more patterns for a while,

 cause I kind of have plenty already – even some I haven’t sewn up yet.

But then all my favorite designers start launching new patterns for spring! 

And who am I kidding – I have no self control!!

After following the blog tour for the Verona Dress from Jennuine Design

I just had to have that pattern.

See what I mean – isn’t this a great dress?

Anita is very happy as usual with the clothes I make for her.

The pattern comes with many different sleeve options, I did the cap sleeves 

and I love the little notches in them!  There is also an option for cute pockets, 

I would have added them if I had made the dress in a solid color.  

There is always next time around, right?

There are no buttons or zippers to sew – yay!

It fits ok over her head but I should have made the notch 

at the back just a little bit deeper.  

The skirt is done with french seems and I really love 

how nice and clean it looks on the inside.  

The elastic at the back is also a really nice touch.

I made Anita a size 4 and it fits great.

And twirls great

Both fabrics I got from the remnant bin at my local fabric store, Kreaktiv. 

The pattern printed out nicely and everything lined up perfectly 

and the instructions were easy to follow.

It doesn’t show all that well but I sewed the collar down with some sequins 

and tiny pearls I got from my late grandmother.  

She was and is my greatest inspiration and role model.  

I have lots of items made by her and they are my most 

precious treasures.  She knitted, sewed, did all kinds of needlework, 

made pottery, made things out of glass.

She could do everything and oh so perfectly and with so much love!

Nice and comfy!

In this post I’m going to continue with a comfortable outfit for active kids,

and this time Viktor is the star of the show.

Once again I played around with colorblocking the Recess Raglan pattern

from See Kate Sew.

My original plan was to use the Explorer Hoodie pattern,

but in the end I went with what I knew.

I definitely will sew up the Explorer Hoodie another time though.

The pants are the Mini Hudson Pants from True Bias.

Both of these patterns are very easy and sew up fast.  The possibilities for mixing them up with different fabcrics and creating different styles are endless.

The pants are a size 5.

Maybe I should have lengthen them a bit so that they would last longer,

but that really dosen’t matter because I’ll happily make him new ones when he outgrows them.

I love the tapered legs.

I am tempted to get the grown up version and make a pair for myself.

I don’t think I have too say much about the Recess Raglan, except that I love it!

pictures off and blog about.
