Eleanor and Stella

I’m still here!
This month has been crazy busy.  I started working at a new place so now
I’m not making glasses anymore but assisting an ophthalmologist.  It’s a mix of a new and
old practice, we just opened at a new location and setting everything up and
learning new routines has been challenging but very fun.
I did manage to get some sewing in this month as well.
I tested a new pattern that was just released, I’ll show you in a couple of days.

Today I’ll show you my January project for Shwin Designs – just in the nick of time!
Believe me its not because the patterns were so difficult it took me a whole month to
get them done.  It’s more of a find time to take photos problem!

Here is the Eleanor Dress/Top.
I obviously made the top version because I didn’t have enough
of this cute sweater fabric from miss matatabi for a dress.
At first I wasn’t sure if I should add the collar but I’m so glad I did cause otherwise
it would just have been another regular sweater.
Because you need a bottom piece as well to go with a sweater and Anita
isn’t a big fan of pants I used the leggings pattern from the Stella to make her a
pair of leggings from a nice soft jersey with brushed back.
I made her a size 5 and I was afraid it would be to big on her but she has
been going through a growth spurt these past weeks so the sizing was perfect.
The photo bomber is Noi our dear old Whippet who is turning 12 this spring.
Both of these came together so fast, the pattern and the instructions are spot on.
I love the dress version as well, it has kind of that cocoon shape that is so popular now and
I love the pleats.
Anita is happy with her new clothes and that makes sewing so satisfying.
I’ll be back before you know it with some more sewing stuff.

Happy New Year!

I had a very good 2015 both sewing and otherwise.
I turned 40 and in celebration of that milestone I and my best friends since childhood,
who also all turned 40 in 2015, went to New York together.
And boy did we have a good time!
We went on a summer holiday with my in-laws and then I got to hang
out with my side of the family in New York.  So I got a chance to spend time
time with all the important people in our lives.
We are all happy and healthy!
Me in Heaven – aka Mood Fabrics New York.
Sewing related, I got a new sewing machine for my birthday – Happy happy!
I got a chance to join the Shwin Designs ambassador team and got the opportunity to
test a few patterns for Wardrobe by me.
I am so thankful for those opportunities and I hope I get to continue along
those lines in 2016.  I love being a small part of the online sewing community,
it is such a fun, loving and supportive group of people.
I finally have confirmation that the presents for my little nieces and my brand new
nephew have arrived only about a week to late – all my mistake!
So now I can share them here.  I joined in on the mermaid tail francy and used

The girls said it was what they have always wanted and my kids have already
put in orders for their own so I better get out of this holiday mode and start sewing.
For my nephew I used the baggy trousers pattern from Nosh, it is a free pattern but it is in
Finnish so I got some help from Google Translate along the way.  I love the style of these
and plan on making some for Viktor.
I also made him the Rowan Tee from Titchy Threads.
The fabric is Duncan and Kate, I think maybe I bought it from Kitshy-Coo but I’m not sure.
The navy one for the pants is stretch french terry from Imagine Gnats
I made the six months old size and my gosh this is sooo tiny, I guess I have forgotten
how small babies are.
I also owed Mila a birthday present so she got the Little Girls Skater Dress from
Kitschy-coo.  Anita has several of these and they are in heavy rotation.  In fact
she has exactly the same dress and she loves her princess dress.
I used Lillestoff organic cotton jersey I bought from Stoffrullene.no
That about sums it up!
